This issue underscores the urgent need for stronger recycling oversight, chemical traceability, and regulatory enforcement to ensure that materials intended for industrial use never re-enter the consumer supply chain. While no significant difference was found between organic and conventionally grown broccoli, seasonal variation had a pronounced impact on vitamin C levels. Vitamin C concentrations during the fall season were nearly twice as high as those recorded in spring (P = 0.021 for organic; P = 0.012 for conventional). These results suggest that seasonal factors, rather than production methods, exert a stronger influence on the nutritional quality of broccoli available to consumers. Moreover, the study highlights the potential of vitamin C as a nutritional marker under controlled conditions, albeit with certain limitations due to its sensitivity to handling, temperature, and transport.
